This is one of the more interesting homes in Wiarton. It is situated across the road from Colpoy's Bay(Georgian Bay). Its history includes being an Inn for men that worked on the ships that worked the Great Lakes. It is difficult to determine how many sailors may have stayed on any given night, since walls have been moved and additional bathrooms have been added. The floors are of red cedar, which apparently was of a lesser quality than white cedar. The white cedar was sold off and the remaining red cedar was less expensive.
There is one room on the main level that works as an office. In the 1880's it was used by Myrtle(the Inn Owner) to run her business. It is still called myrtle's room.
The Porches add tremendous space to the house. The first floor porch acts as a great place for coffee with company or a place for kids or grandkids. I can imagine that plenty of card games were played there along with boardgames and puzzles.
The upper porch is entered from the master bedroom. This porch gives a nice view of the bay and enjoys the morning sun. I can see this porch as a place of morning coffee and conversation.
This home has so many opportunities in the hands of someone with a vision and a feeling for the history of the house.
An open house will be had November 28th from Noon until two and all are welcome
